2 cup Brikka

It seems like the 2 cup Brikka give the "best" results in terms of crema. Since it's just me and my wife at home, I have been searching for a 2 cupper, but to no avail. Can anyone point me to a source where I don't have to pay an incredible amount on shipping?

Thanks!

David

: BellaItalia (bella-italia.com) can ship to the US and seems to have them in stock. The cost is $47USD + $18USD for shipping. They're shipped from Italy and state a one-week delivery time. I'm ordering mine tonight; sales was very responsive to my initial inquiry and they take PayPal as well as credit cards on their website. WeeDram

where to buy:

I just recently bought my 2 cup from Canada. It listed there for $59(Canadian) and with shipping to my home in Oklahoma came out to $74.  $66 American altogether. Not cheap, but certainly cheaper than having it shipped from Italy. The store is called City Chef. Here is their website

2 cup: Hi David My thought is that you may want to go with a 4 cup rather than the hassles of getting a 2 cup. I have a 4 cup and have found the sweet-spot for filling my brikka to get 60ml of "espresso". I can't really say wether its as good as a 2 cup but I get a fine brew every time and 60ml is a good amount for 1 coffee. Chris Chris

Ditto citychef: Got mine from there, received it very quickly considering it had to cross the border and everything, I think it was a matter of days, like 4-5 or so.  Cost was $67 US including shipping.  I believe it would go for $50 US plus shipping if it sold here, amazon if they had it would give you the shipping free since over 25, but alas, can't get that way.  67 then doesn't seem bad at all to me and it was quick.

:

There are numerous options for getting it from Europe.  Some of them I looked at before finding citychef were quite pricey, but others mentioned on this site have about the same price.  Here's the one I've seen mentioned at the same price with shipping:

http://www.bella-italia.com

People say the price works out to be the same as citychef - I believe the price you pay for the item itself is a little lower when you import direct from Italy, so maybe that covers a little of your shipping expense, plus in Canada the regular price is $60 CDN instead of $50, so that also makes the Italy one apparently come out the same.  Others here quoted paying the same I did, like $67 from bella-italia.  I paid $60 CDN plus shipping, and I think the shipping worked out to about 10-12 bucks or something, so it was like $67 US with shipping.  Check it out, let us know what the price details are if you can.

2-cup from Italy:

I just ordered the 2-cup from bella-italia and the total came to $70 - $52 for the Brikka and $18 for the shipping. I gave up trying to even find one anywhere else. I have been considering buying one since last spring and finally gave in. I will post experience when I receive.

PS - Chefini did have them on their site but when I ordered it, they said sorry they were out but would give me the 4-cup for same price - I said no thanks.

$70 from bella-italia:

Thanks for the update on that, so price is essentially the same, and also I for one would also be curious how long the shipping actually ends up taking - I'm sure others would like more specifics on how things pan out on that front as well.

Also, I thought I may as well contribute what I spent on mine as long as I'm asking you!  I looked up the exact amounts and here they are, for anyone else interested:

CityChef.ca:

66.94 USD total price, Brikka including shipping

12.81 USD shipping

54.13 USD Brikka

I wish I had a record on how long it took, but I just don't.  I know it was surprisingly quick though.  I was expecting maybe a couple weeks but it was just I think 3-5 business days, don't remember exactly how many.

Good luck with everything.

Just Got My Brikka 2-Cup!:

I placed my order with Bella-Italia Friday night, October 27th. They shipped it on Monday, the 30th - I RECEIVED IT TODAY! I am amazed - it takes longer than that to get items in the states.

I just unpacked it and read all the literature. The price ended up being $73.47. The poor dollar just keeps dropping.

I have a question: The instructions have a tip that says:

Fill the filter with ground moka coffee without pressing.

TIP: Do not use finely ground coffee for espresso machine.

Why not? That is what I have used for my regular Bialetti moka pot.

Any help is appreciated.

Coffee leaks to bottom:

If anyone can help with this problem I would be sooo happy because I cannot seem to make a decent coffee.  The coffee seems to seep back into the bottom heater.  There is very little coffee in the top as more is in the heater on the bottom.

I use Ily espresso grind.  It appears there is not enough pressure to push everything to the top.  What do you think?
