Vittoria Arabica

vittoria arabica

"We have been promoting 100% Arabica coffee since 1958. Robusta beans have twice the caffeine content of Arabica beans, and there's a reason why they're half the price - Arabica is a better coffee." - Mr. Les Schirato, CEO Vittoria Coffee.

There are more difference in Robusta and Arabica. You may taste more acidity in Arabica, and more bitterness in Robusta. Robusta may also give more crema production. Arabica beans require careful attention in growing, and Robusta requires less and is generally cheaper to produce.

I am not a big fan of 100% Arabica bean to be honest. I would love to have propoer portion of Robusta in my Brikka pot, so it will have more body, and of course, creama.

Yet, for the people who love Arabica 100% coffee, I recommend to try Vittoria Arabica from Australia.

Order: they have web site from where you can order. They have to call you back, and confirm the order, but it should arrive in a week or less to USA. The beans were between medium to dark roast.

Like I always feel for 100% Arabica coffee, I recommend griding this bean to very fine in order to have enough body when you brew with Brikka. Brikka produces enough crema when you use finely ground Vittoria.

I don't know if you agree, but in my opinion, this coffee has more bitterness compared to the medium roasted illy coffee, which is also 100% Arabica. I think Vittoria is roasted a bit darker, and it is giving bitterness (, which is a plus to me.) It has relatively subtle acidity, but it exists, and the nutty after taste means more to me in a positive sense.

It would be kinder if their coffee bag had roasting date, and if the shipping came in a box, rather than a stuffed bag, in order to prevent coffee from breaking during the shipment. (Maybe I am askinng too much, for the coffee beans still looked beautiful.)

If you are fan of 100% Arabica lover, you should try this before going for your next can of illy. illy is distributed by lots retailer, and the bean freshness really depends on them. On the other hand, you can order Vittoria directly from Vittoria Coffee, and it's worth even if you are not based in Australia.

(Above picture says "ground" but I ordered whole bean, of course)
