Lasting crema (updated)
Hi - I am new to this forum. Thought I'd share some photos of the coffee I just brewed using my new Brikka. I used a 50% Sumatran (at Vienna roast) 50% Ethiopian (at city+ roast) homemade bean mix on my second try with the Brikka. I tried medium grind dark roast Illy at first, but there was not much crema. I think it has to do with the grind size. I ground my own mix using the third from finest setting on my Solis 166, and it packed the funnel full to the brim. The water level was the default - what was indicated on the funnel. The result was very lasting crema and a very good tasting cup of coffee. Some crema stayed on the sides of the cup even after drinking.
Here are the photos:

Crema using coarse instant decaf coffee (yeah, it tastes bad)

Finally, after much experimentation, Illy dark roast medium grind crema - trick was to pour quickly after the sbuffo sound and to use an overfull filter cone
